RESQ Health Insurance for Travelers in Türkiye covers the medical care and transfer costs incurred as a result of an accident or unexpected illness that may occur during travel within the validity period of your policy. Pre-existing medical conditions are not covered by travel insurance. Insurance coverage and limits differ according to the policy plan you choose.
6. When should I take out a Health Insurance Policy for Travelers in Türkiye?
You should take out your policy before your trip. If you are a citizen of a country whose citizens are required to enter Türkiye with a visa, travel insurance is among the documents that need to be submitted at the time of visa application. When traveling to Türkiye, the required insurance period starts from the time you officially enter the borders of Türkiye and ends at the time you officially leave the country.
For RESQ travel insurance coverage to become valid, the policy of the person(s) who will benefit from insurance must be taken out before they officially enter the borders of Türkiye. Otherwise, all coverages provided under a policy are invalid pursuant to the special policy conditions.
7. How should I determine the policy period of my Health Insurance for Travelers in Türkiye?
We recommend that your travel health policy starts 1 day before your travel date and expires 1 day after your return date as a precaution against possible problems during visa procedures or delays on tourist or business trips. The start and expiry dates of your travel insurance must cover the entire length of your stay in Türkiye.

The insured may take out a more comprehensive travel health insurance policy that will include the following minimum coverages.

2. What’s covered by medical cost coverage for accidents and sudden illness?
This coverage covers the outpatient / inpatient medical costs incurred as a result of the insured suffering a sudden illness or injury due to an emergency, up to the limits defined in the general and special policy conditions.
3. What is the coverage for transfer of the deceased insured?
If the insured dies as a result of an insured event, this coverage covers the transfer of the deceased to the burial site in his/her home country, up to the limits defined in the general and special policy conditions.
4. What are the conditions for travel and transfer of the insured for medical reasons?
If the insured suffers an illness or injury as a result of an insured event, our assistance services based in Türkiye make the necessary arrangements for the insured’s transfer to a medical center, and after discharge, from the medical center to his/her home by any means of transport that the in-house doctor of the assistance company may deem fit. The medical report issued by the doctor(s) treating the insured is taken into account in transfer arrangements. If the selected insurance plan provides coverage for transfer by air ambulance, such transfer is covered up to the limits defined in the general and special policy conditions.
5. How can I benefit from medical consultancy services?
You can get information, advice and assistance about any health problems you may encounter in Türkiye within the validity period of your policy by calling the assistance services specified in your policy 24/7.
6. How can I benefit from lost luggage coverage?
If your luggage gets lost on a scheduled flight and your luggage is not found within the time determined by the airline company, but in any case, no later than “21” days, you will receive compensation for your loss up to the limits defined in the general and special policy conditions.
7. What is covered by extended assistance?
RESQ Health Insurance for Travelers in Türkiye can be purchased with a variety of coverage options sold under the names Minimum, Standard, Optimal and Optimal Plus which our customers can choose from depending on their needs and preferences, i.e., from lowest coverage limit and assistance service up to highest coverage limit and extended assistance service.

8. Is Covid-19 covered by Travel Health Insurance?
RESQ Health Insurance for Travelers in Türkiye covers Covid-19 inpatient medical costs only if you purchase extra Covid-19 coverage for your stay. This extra coverage is only valid if you are diagnosed with Covid-19 during your stay in Türkiye, up to the limits defined in the general and special policy conditions.
9. Does the extra coverage for Covid-19 also cover my Covid-19 test?
Costs incurred for Covid-19 testing are not covered. Only exceptionally, the test expenses of insured persons testing positive for Covid-19 are covered within the scope of medical treatment.
1. Can I cancel the policy (or policies) I purchased?
Health Insurance for Travelers can be cancelled under the conditions set out in the General Conditions for Health Insurance for Travelers in Türkiye, the Circular on Health Insurance for Visa and Residence Permit Requests (Circular dated 10/05/2016 and numbered 16/2016) promulgated by the Turkish Prime Ministry, Undersecretariat of Treasury, Directorate General of Insurance, and the Circular dated 22/06/2021 and numbered 2021/8 amending the former.
2. What are the cancellation conditions for the policy (or policies) I purchased?
Pursuant to the General Conditions for Health Insurance for Travelers in Türkiye.
If a person who purchases Health Insurance for Travelers has to cancel his trip, the person can cancel the policy and claim a refund of the paid insurance premium, provided that the person notifies the insurance company at least
24 hours before the policy start date and returns the policy.
Pursuant to the Circular
dated 22/06/2021 and numbered 2021/8.
Termination of Travel Health Insurance contracts at the request of the insured is bound to the condition that at least one of the following conditions is met:
- 1. Submitting to the company a new travel health insurance or health insurance contract for the same visa permit period,
- 2. Cancellation or non-extension of visa,
- 3. Rejection of visa application or withdrawal of visa application before a decision is made.
3. How do I make a cancellation request for the policy (or policies) I purchased?
The insured person(s) meeting the Travel Health Insurance cancellation conditions can file a request by filling out the contact form on our website.
To initiate cancellation and insurance premium refund procedures, the insured is required to:
make a notification to the insurance company at least 24 hours before the policy start date, and submit a petition addressed to our company, which must be signed by the policy owner if the insured person is not the policy owner, or by the insured if the insured person and the policy owner are the same, together with an identity document attached thereto as proof the insured person’s / policy owner’s identity.
The petition must contain a statement that the planned trip to Türkiye has been cancelled, together with any supporting information (cancelled flight ticket (documentation, screenshot etc.), cancelled vacation package (documentation, screenshot, e-mail notification etc.), trip cancelled due to health issues (medical report, certificate of diagnosis etc.)
Other cancellation requests can be made under the following conditions.
Submitting to the company a new travel health insurance or health insurance contract for the same visa permit period:
On the condition that a new travel health insurance has been taken out for the insured person(s) covering the same visa permit period, and that those policies are delivered to our company in the attachment of the insured’s petition for cancellation.
Cancellation or non-extension of visa:
On the condition that the letter(s) issued by the relevant authorities for cancellation or non-extension of visa is delivered to our company in the attachment of the insured’s petition for cancellation.
Rejection of visa application or withdrawal of visa application before a decision is made:
On the condition that the letter(s) issued by the relevant authorities for rejection of visa application is delivered to our company in the attachment of the insured’s petition for cancellation.
4. How can I change the dates of the policy (or policies) I have purchased?
If you entered the wrong start and/or end dates for a travel health policy you purchased on our website, you can purchase a new policy with the correct dates and fill out the contact form on our website to request the cancellation of the policies you purchased with the wrong dates.
The insurance premiums paid for policies you purchased with the wrong dates will be refunded once the policy number(s) of the policy (or policies) taken out for the same insured person(s) on our website with the correct dates are checked and confirmed by our company subsequent to your request. This type of policy cancellation request is accepted only if the new policy (or policies) are taken out for a time period that is up to “15” days earlier or later than the policy (or policies) whose cancellation is requested.
5. I entered the personal information of the insured person / policy owner incorrectly in the policy (or policies) I purchased. How can I fix it?
If the policy owner’s title and name-surname, a legal entity’s ID number, a real person’s passport number or a real person’s birth date or gender have been entered incorrectly, you can purchase a new policy with the correct information and fill out the contact form on our website to request the cancellation of the policy (or policies) containing the wrong information.
The insurance premiums paid for policies you purchased with the wrong information will be refunded once the policy number(s) of the policy (or policies) taken out for the same insured person(s) on our website with the correct information are checked and confirmed by our company subsequent to your request.
6. I have entered the wrong contact details / I want to change the contact details of the insured person in the policy (or policies) I purchased. How should I proceed?
If the contact details of the policy owner or insured person in a purchased policy (or policies) is incorrect or has been entered incorrectly by mistake, the policy owner can fill out the contact form on our website to request correction of that information. Please make sure you specify in your request the correct policy number(s) and the incorrect and correct information together with proof of your identity, upon which we shall revise your policy (or policies) accordingly and send you the relevant information correction notices.
